Progress Report #1


Hello everyone !

I wanted to give you a quick update on how things are going with the next release (v0.2) of Office Life.

This new version is expected to drop sometime around June. Most of the CGs are already complete.

Since I’m developing this game solo and working on it in my spare time, my goal is to keep a steady pace of one new release every 1–2 months.

What to expect in terms of content:

  • Introduction of a new character (more about them in a future exclusive post !)
  • 2 new H-scenes (I don’t think I’ll have time to include a third one this time.)

I'm also working on improving the game’s codebase to support new features and better tools for development. I’m not yet sure which features will be ready for v0.2 or pushed to v0.3 — it depends on how much progress I can make in the coming weeks.

Here’s what’s planned on the functionality side:

  • Skip mode
  • Save slots
  • In-game UI (quick access to options, save/load, etc., like in most VN games)
  • Internal tools to speed up story/image integration
  • Gallery / Scene Replay (most likely in v0.3 or later)
  • Bug fixes

I'm also considering adding an optional UI text mode switch, allowing players to choose between the current comic-style bubble presentation and a more traditional VN-style textbox. This would only affect how dialogue is displayed — the visuals will stay the same. The default will remain the comic-style bubbles, but I know some players might prefer the more familiar VN format.

That said, this feature is not a priority right now. Since the dialogue was originally written with comic bubbles in mind (shorter, punchier lines), the VN mode might feel a little unusual — and I don’t plan to rewrite the script to suit both formats.
